With over 20 years of progressing responsibilities in the marine transportation industry and a successful track record in operational management, Capt. Luiz incorporated Lorimar Marine Canada Ltd in 2001.

The formation of the company has been inspired by the idea of perceived need of an independent marine surveying & consultancy company in Metro Vancouver region, to provide professional marine services relying on experience in line with modern concepts and quality assurance. Honesty & integrity is the cornerstone upon which our company has been built.

  Capt. Luiz, Master Mariner, certified by Transport Canada, is the exclusive Principal Marine Surveyor and provides professional marine surveying, loss adjusting and loss prevention services.

  Throughout his career Capt. Luiz, a self made man, has been described as a technically proficient professional. His success to date is strictly based in his abilities to adapt to the ever changing marine industry and to persuade others to adapt and change as well. Capt. Luiz has the passion to work, and is willing to continually educate and re-educate himself to have the cutting edge.

  In the year 1998 Capt. Luiz ventured into business, establishing Lorimar Marine Ltd. in Dar Es Salaam, Tanzania, Operators/Managers of the motor tanker 'Maroushka', and providing off-shore bunkering services. Some of his most rewarding work centered on being the Designated Person Ashore (DPA) and the Company Security Officer (CSO).

  Prior to that, his petroleum industry background (extensive sailing experience on Crude Oil and Clean Petroleum tankers with international ship management companies 1982-1993) landed him the much coveted position of a Marine Superintendent (1994) with Bulk Oil Tanzania Ltd., later renamed to GAPCO (T) Ltd., an oil marketing and distribution company. Heading the Shipping Division, Capt. Luiz technically managed three product tankers and oversaw the day to day operations of the vessels.
